So that was this year’s Freshers Fair, with lots of people showing lots of interest. Over 200 people signed up for our mailing list, which is amazing! We’ll try to give each of our new novices quality training, and provide you with all the kit you require. Next up is tomorrow’s Have-A-Go session in Hyde Park. We’ll walk people over from Beit Halls entrance at 1pm. If you’re late, just follow the instructions how to get to the KPG, to go to the shooting range directly.

And if you can’t make it on Wednesday, we’ll have another Have-A-Go session on Thursday evening. It’ll start at 8pm in the Wilson House Recreation Centre. If you don’t know where that is, don’t worry, again we’ll be walking people there from Beit Quad Entrance, where we’ll leave at 7.30 pm.

Jordan is happy with the Freshers Fair!

After that, we’ll have tri-weekly training, the dates of which you can see in the calendar, or at Practice Times & Locations.

We’ll also keep you informed by mail. If you didn’t sign up to the mailing list yet, just throw a mail at our captain, Jordan. He’ll be as happy as in the picture above about your message!

Just pop along tomorrow or on Thursday, and enjoy some fine archery!

Welcome to the new Imperial College Archery Club website. In the new year ICAC will be introducing more than the new website, where you will find most of the information you may need to learn more about us and about archery itself, but also we will be introducing the badge system to encourage novices to take the challenge of getting the badges, and motivate senior archers to further improve their shooting skills.

At the badge system recognized competitions (i.e. any external competition we take part in, and all BUSA and SEAL matches), archers can nominate themselves for a specific badge. Then at the competition the archer will have to shoot for the point specified by the badge in order to qualify for it. For novices taking part in their first archery competition, they will be automatically granted an “open nomination”, which will qualify the novice with the badge of highest level that his/her score allows.

Further details, including the qualifying scores for the different rounds we shoot, will be uploaded in due course. If you would like to know more about the badge, please feel free to email the records officer at edmund.lam07@imperial.ac.uk

The new academic year is fast approaching, which means the start of a new and exciting season for the Archery Club!

First off, there’s Freshers’ Fair, taking place next Tuesday (7th October). Immediately afterwards, we will be holding a “Welcome Back” social session (probably taking place in one of the many wonderful pubs around Paddington) and a fun shoot during the session that evening (8-10pm) at Wilson House. This will give you a chance to have a chat and catch up with your fellow archers after the long summer break. Hope to see many of you there!

On the next day (Wednesday 8th October), we will be running our free have-a-go session at Kensington Palace Gardens from 12-2pm.
Finally, here are the new Wilson house session times for the 2008/2009 season:

    Tuesday: 8-10pm
    Thursday: 8-10pm
    Sunday: 7-9pm

You can join the club for this year safely and electronically via our shop at the union website.

Starting with the new term (and a new webmaster), the website has been updated a little bit. It was less for the visuals, but now the page is WordPress based, which means we can edit its contents comfortably and enter news easily. Also, you can see a list of upcoming events on the right, which is taken straight from our Google calendar.

Also, if you feel nostalgic, the old page is still accessible here.
